ABOUT J. Cruzado

J. Cruzado is trained and certified in transformational and facilitative mediation.  Certified by the Center for Dispute Settlement and certified under Part 146 of the rules of the Chief Administrative Judge.  He is certified in Custody and Visitation, Kinship, Commercial, and Child Permanency Mediation.  As part of his duties as a Chief Administrative Officer he has mediated many conflicts in the workplace. He has over 30 years experience in law enforcement and the court system.  He retired from the NYS courts after serving as the Chief Clerk of the Supreme and County Court and the Commissioner of Jurors in Livingston County, New York.  Member NYSDRA (New York State Dispute Resolution Association).  

 

Mediation is a confidential dispute resolution process in which a neutral third party assists the parties to identify issues and explore options for a mutually acceptable outcome. The mediator does not decide the matters but helps the parties to resolve the dispute themselves. Mediation seeks to ensure that the parties arrive at a voluntary, uncoerced decision in which each party makes free and informed choices.  

​Cruzado mediations focuses on small claims, custody and visitation, child permanency, separation agreements, memorandums of understanding and diversity and inclusion conflicts in the workplace and in educational institutions.  

Education and Training:

J. Cruzado has a master's degree in strategic leadership and is trained in transformational and facilitative mediation. J. Cruzado has received training in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University and is fluent in English and Spanish.  He has been actively involved in community engagement, mentoring, and professional development for over 25 years. 

Diversity, Inclusion & Community Engagement:

J. Cruzado has had significant success in creating programs designed to improve diversity in the NYS Unified Courts. Students that participated in the Court Awareness Program, and the JUST LAW Program learned about careers in the courts, and the importance of jury service.

About Cristian Cruzado

Cristian received his Juris Doctor from the University of Buffalo, School of Law and has his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from SUNY Brockport. He is a practicing attorney in the Rochester, NY area.  Cristian is extremely passionate about mental health and well-being. He has assisted organizing and implementing the inaugural class on lawyer mental health and well being at UB, and started the Student Wellness Society, a student run organization at UB aimed at assisting and promoting such issues.
